Day 12: A Day in Montenegro

Today’s excursion was truly a beautiful experience. We had it off and crossed the border into the country of Montenegro. On our way we drove a coastal road which hug the Adriatic and I very sensual way. The views are on the road were positively spectacular and I was lucky enough to be sitting on the right side of the bus . The winding road that was quite a bit above the water left a panoramic view that was breathtaking. Although I had enjoyed being in Dubrovnik yesterday, being able to look down onto the city and discover its place along the Adriatic coast was a magnificent sight.

It took us about an hour to get to the border. I found it Odd that we had to go through such hoops considering both Croatia and Montenegro are members of the European Union. Montenegro uses euros and Croatia uses its own Currency, the Kuna.

After about another hour ride into Montenegro, we stopped along the sea in the city of Perast to get into a boat that would take us to the city of Kotor. Kotor Is the city of about 800 people that was built in the 1400s by the city of Venice. Many of the buildings and the  Towers were all designed in the venetian style. Although it was a very small city, there were many small alleyways and beautiful squares for us to see. We have a local guy who was very entertaining but was very light on history. There was several churches in the town and I stopped and visited  A Roman Catholic one and an Orthodox one. They were very beautiful.

Once the tour was over we stopped for lunch in a café on one of the squares. It was a leisurely lunch because it was very hot. Once lunch was over I made my way through some of the alleyways that we were unable to go to during the tour. I  also stopped at a pharmacy as I have a terrible rash on my legs from the heat and I needed something to alleviate the rash. It doesn’t hurt nor is it itchy it just looks terrible. We probably stayed a little bit too long here because after 45 minutes of walking around there wasn’t much left to see and we still have another 45 minutes to wait.

Once finished we had a very long walk in the heat to the bus. On top of it some people decided to change seats from the morning. The van we were in sat 16 people and We had 16 people on the tour. Of course the first  Seat taken was mine so by the time people got seated I ended up in a seat that I didn’t really want to sit in. I’m really not sure I’m gonna like this group. There’s a whole group of elderly women who are all traveling together and I’m not particular show at the very friendly. There’s a couple from Texas who seem to be OK.  I had a nice conversation with Richard this afternoon and then again this evening I sat with he and his wife and listened to the combo outside while we watch the sun come down. The rest of them went out to dinner together and I chose for some me time. I needed to be away from them because I really was a little annoyed with them today. Hopefully this won’t last.

The ride home was quicker than the ride there and we had very good luck going through the border controls. Once again the scenery was magnificent and a part of the ride we took a ferry in the bus to shorten the ride by 45 minutes. I am now back in my room, relaxing and just Enjoying my time. It was a beautiful sunset tonight and actually I enjoyed my pizza and seasonal salad. I love the seasonal salad is here that just lettuce and tons of tomatoes and they are just so good. Tomorrow we’re back in Dubrovnik for some more spec tech killer views and then we go to a farm to watch the make cheese.
Until then.
